Plain language
Power symbols make the domain requirement in a cost visible. Compare those symbols with the deck's rune plan before adding the card.
Example
Two cards with the same Energy number may ask for different Power symbols and therefore fit different rune plans.
Common mix-up
Power is not a unit's combat strength; that combat value is Might.
